3rd Annual GIVE Event with Krochet Kids + TOMS Shoes

Last Saturday, August 13th, Active partnered up with Krochet Kids and TOMS Shoes to host the 3rd annual GIVE Event at the Irvine Spectrum Center. TOMS brought out over 30 artists who were on hand to lend their artistic talent to customize TOMS shoes, while the Korchet Kids, in support of their ‘We are the Future of Change‘ campaign, had games like plinko, ring toss, goldfish, and more to raise awareness and collect change for the women and children in Uganda.   The music line-up was awesome with bands Levanter, Los Coyotes, The Alla-Las, Kiven, and the Pawnshop Kings, plus DJ Mike Robles.  Thanks to everyone who made it out to the event!  And to those of you who didn’t – we hope to see you next year!  Check out the video below for a look at this year’s GIVE Event.

A big thanks to Vestal and Keep A Breast for coming out as well!

Our friends at Sounds Like A Movement put together a Podcast of the event with interviews, music, and more. Check it out – here.

2011 Active Brodown Showdown Slideshow/Recap

The 2011 Active Brodown Showdown wrapped up this weekend in Mammoth Mountain. The course was in awesome shape with tons of options that gave our riders plenty to work with. Dylan Alito turned to event into his own party and walked away with first place by giving us amazing, different lines every run with tons of energy. Second went to Jared Dawoud and third to Brandon Davis. Erik Leon took best trick, which I can happily say, was a huge method to flat. Check out these pics from the event:

Sponsor Me Contest

This past Sunday marked the 10 year anniversary for the Active Sponsor Me Contest held at Mountain High Resorts. It seem like just yesterday that we held the first one at Bear Mountain back in 2001, we at Active are so grateful to have the support of the competitors and our sponsors for this event. For this year’s Sponsor Me contest we tried to incorporate all aspects of park riding with Jumps, rails and boxes and even a half pipe feature. The Competition was pretty intense with over 70 competitors putting it on the line for a chance to win a 1 year rep rider contract from our title sponsors. In the end local boy Brandon Simon can out victorious, with Jeremy Estagay from Mammoth coming in a close second. Thank you to Rome Snowboards, 32 Boots, Vestal, Neff, Skull Candy, Jarritos and of course Mountain High Resorts for helping put this event together. Check back next week for the video.

The 6th Annual Willabong Classic

What started out as a fun Active employee surf contest 6 years ago, has since spawned into an all out battle for supremacy between brands in the surfing capital of America, Huntington Beach.  This year’s Willabong teams featured Analog, Hurley, Dragon, Filtrate, Spy, Vestal, KK, Team BK and Chemistry, with companies bring out some serious fire power with the likes of Pat O, Todd Prestige, Josh Hoyer, Andrew Doheny, and Austin Ware to name drop a few.  Despite the winter like conditions, the sun finally peaked out and got nice for the finals between Chemistry Surfboards and Dragon optics.  Will Barraza of our Temecula store and Jenner Heller from Active corporate were on the opposing teams, in the end Will reigned supreme with Team Chemistry edging out Dragon by a half a point.  It was great to see everyone hanging out and having a good time, thanks to all who participated.
See you next year!

Active’s 9th Annual Sponsor Me Contest

This last Sunday Active Ride Shop hosted the 9th Annual Sponsor Me Contest. The event was created to give up and coming riders a platform to showcase their talents and potentially get sponsored by the top snow brands in our Industry. Mountain High park staff built an amazing course that included a 35 ft Step down, a school yard down rail, and even had a one hitter in the half pipe. The event climaxed with the Sponsor Me Finals, which had the top 10 kids competing for the top spot. It was a close final, but young Patrick Kennedy edged out Utah ripper Jesse Ramirez with a tribute move to Ben Hinkley; the double front flip. Thanks again to Rome Snowboards, 32 boots, Vestal, VZ, Neff, Jarritos and of course Mt High and USASA staff for making this event possible. See you next year!
