OBEY invited the Active Ride Shop family out for a night at their Headquarters in Irvine. The night was filled with live band karaoke (which was a first for me), King Taco, a tour around their HQ, and ended it with some lessons on OBEY history and clothing. Thank you everyone at OBEY for a fun night and a warm welcome!

October is officially National Breast Cancer Awareness month and our friends over at Obey Awareness have partnered with Keep A Breast Foundation to raise awareness and support for the company’s continuing efforts to eradicate breast cancer. Keep A Breast works to expose our youth to methods of prevention, early detection, and support for breast cancer. Shepard Fairey, one of the founders of Obey Clothing, had a big influence on their collaboration with KAB and has been a big supporter since their start 10 years ago. He designed The Keep Breast graphic that you will see on all of the product and feels a special connection to the cause because he lost his aunt to breast cancer, and his mother is a breast cancer survivor. Stop by any Active Ride Shop location now to support a great cause, and the fight against breast cancer, by picking up the Obey x Keep A Breast gear!
The Museum of Contemporary Art in LA is hosting a fabulous mix of street artists from around the world in a new venue in Little Tokyo downtown. Work will be up until August 8th, and is definitely a must do for the Summer time! If you love street art, the skate culture that has evolved from it, and a mixture of unique artists, this exhibit is for you. I went down on opening night and snapped some shots of my favorite stuff. As a little hint, it is free every Monday from 11am to 5pm, so head down and check it out – you only have a little over a week left!

The Obey Awareness campaign, launched in 2007, is a program that is committed to two goals: first educating people on issues and causes Obey Clothing thinks are important, and second to raise money for these causes. Every season Obey Awareness finds new organizations to support and shed light upon. This spring Feeding America is their new project. In their fight to end hunger, Feeding America utilizes a nationwide network of member food banks to feed America’s hungry. While distributing nearly 3 billion pounds of food to hungry Americans annually, Feeding America is providing help to the nearly 49 million people in the United States that are living in food-insecure households. Obey Awareness is proud to say that with every sale of this t-shirt all profits are directly donated to Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity.

An art benefit including some amazing people/ artists. We went last year and it was the place to be! Our good friend Deph will be throwing up some art for sale, along with heavies like Shepard Fairey, Michael Sieben (of Bueno fame), Craola, and Logan Hicks who just finished doing a bunch of rad stuff for XGames 15. Shepard will be on the ones and twos mixing up a set for dancing hipsters/dirty skaters. I’m really excited about the special live musical performance. Last year it was Matt Costa, so I imagine it’s someone even bigger, for fear of jam packing the historic building where the show is held, the organinzers are keeping it a surprise! Don’t want to miss out… take advantage of meeting these amazing artist and discovering all the new ones. Life is wonderful and it’s the artist that make it so!!
