Milk & Honey – Providing Hope for India, Human Trafficking Awareness Night photos at Long Beach Museum of Art. Featuring Tess Shapiro, Ray Barbee, Cuates, & Josh Harmony!
Last Saturday, in the beautiful city of Los Angeles, HUF played host and held down one of the most interesting art shows I’ve ever been to. Artist, Haroshi, takes the phrase, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure,” to another level with mind-blowing sculptures that were created from used and broken skateboards. A high-ollie contest over Haroshi’s fire hydrant started the night off, as tacos and beers kept it going. Many pros were in attendance to show some love and support. And to top it all off, Ray Barbee, Tommy Guerrero, and Money Mark ended the night with some sounds. Hats off to Deluxe, HUF and Haroshi for a good night.

This past Monday night, two of our brand partners- Stussy, and Heel Bruise came together in Las Vegas to create a photo exhibition titled- “Under the radar”. This show featured works by Ray Barbee, Robbie Jeffers, Curtis Buchanan, and Devin Briggs. I had the pleasure of attending this event, and I can honestly say it exceeded my expectations. The photos in the show were not only eye pleasing, they also had strong skateboard nostalgia presence, as there were classic photos of- Andy Roy, Jason Dill, and Richard Mulder. The Beer and rum was flowing, and there were good homies everywhere you looked , which made for an all around good time.
Thanks to Stussy and Heel Bruise for giving us the chance to attend such an amazing event.

The 2010 Musink Festival at the OC Fairgrounds was a historic event for Active! It was an amazing blend of radness, tattoo artists, skateboarding and good times! With sick bands like The Damned, Buzzcocks, NOFX and even a Black Flag tribute band featuring Mike Vallely and Duane Peters.
The Legends Jam included skateboarding hall of famer’s Tony Alva, Duane Peters, Salba, Steve Olsen, Christian Hosoi, Eric Dressen, Eddie Reategui, and Ben Schroeder. Highlights include a tour of the tattoo halls by Creature Hessian Neil Heddings and a puppet show by Father Abraham.
Ray Barbee is one smooth operator. Whether it’s skating or writing music, everything he does flows so well and oozes with style. Ray is one of those elite old schoolers that set a standard for how to look good on a skateboard. His part in Powell’s “Ban This” video show us just that. Watch as Ray give us lesson on style and fluidity, all the way from 1989!
