MCHN Presents Disposable Photo Show

Building upon an ongoing project, Disposable: A Photo is a tribute to a period in time when people shuffled through and held photos in their hands. This exhibition shares it’s allegiance to 90’s era values of resourcefulness and thrift and serves as an homage to the disposable camera and the 1 hour photo processing experience. Cheap / easy with a fast food type quality, speedy prints document the destruction. The 1 hour photo exhibit is also a subtle nod to a generation that preceded this shift in photography’s direction. Calling upon those who have had their hand in this process of picture taking and photo collecting and recall curiosity being key in it’s experience.”

The STITCH: Weekend Adventures + An Active Party

Last weekend the Active crew gathered in San Clemente, California to celebrate what a “helluva year” 2012 is going to be! A couple of friends and I used this party as an excuse to have our own little staycation, as we like to call it. We made the trip from Los Angeles to Orange County on Friday afternoon and were sure to make a pit stop in Costa Mesa at our favorite spot, Big Belly Deli, on the way. Nothing but laughs, great sandwiches, and tasty beers!

Next we made our way down to San Clemente, stopped at the hotel to put on our party dresses and dancing shoes, and then headed out to the party.  The night was filled with dancing, food, friends, and a great time. We definitely took advantage of the mustaches and top hats in the photo booth!

The next day was adventure number two.  On our way home we hit my most favorite antique shop in Long Beach, Antique Mall II.  It is one of the many antique spots in the area with everything from old record players, to 1950’s gas pumps, and of course lots and lots of jewelry – my favorite! My advice, next time your in Long Beach be sure to check this place out. There are some great finds, and lots of hidden treasures!

The Active party was a great way to kick off 2012 and an awesome excuse to get away for a few days and have some adventures with some great people!  “It’s gonna be one Helluva Year” everybody – I can’t wait!!!
