It’s Monday! And you you know what that means! Time to start your work / school week off right with Mondays With Mike V. Episode #6 features Mike and Ben Raybourn skating the private ramp at the Vans corporate offices then it was off to the Vans Skatepark at The Block in Orange, CA for the Pro-Tec Pool Contest. Enjoy and thanks for watching!
The 2010 Musink Festival at the OC Fairgrounds was a historic event for Active! It was an amazing blend of radness, tattoo artists, skateboarding and good times! With sick bands like The Damned, Buzzcocks, NOFX and even a Black Flag tribute band featuring Mike Vallely and Duane Peters.
The Legends Jam included skateboarding hall of famer’s Tony Alva, Duane Peters, Salba, Steve Olsen, Christian Hosoi, Eric Dressen, Eddie Reategui, and Ben Schroeder. Highlights include a tour of the tattoo halls by Creature Hessian Neil Heddings and a puppet show by Father Abraham.
Active hosted the mini ramp jam at the MUSINK Tattoo and Music Festival this past weekend which was held out at the O.C. Fairgrounds. Jarritos teamed up with Active in sponsoring the ramp and brought out legends such as Tony Alva, Christian Hosoi, Mike Vallely, Salba, Steve Olson, Eric Dressen, Duane Peters and others for the “Legends Skate Jam” Saturday night. Thanks to all who attended and we’ll see you next year!

Frijoles Blancos Films is a video journal by Active’s TM Corey Cady (aka Frijoles Blancos) or “The White Beans”. He’s a skateboarding luchador who enjoys cute little things! At times he is a “Rudos”, but for the most part, he likes to consider himself a “Tecnicos”. He wears his heroes masks of old and often eats a ton of protein to keep his girlish light heavy weight frame intact! His inspirations are Woody Allen Films, Arnold (70’s), Leigh Bowery, Tommy Guerrero, Antony & the Johnsons, chicken breasts and Tamarindo Jarritos! Frijoles Blancos’ goal is to one day be worthy to dawn his own mask and not to be called, “Nacho” everywhere he goes… One day!!
We collected unwrapped toys at all of our store locations and brought them down to the boys and girls at the City Lights Dream Center in Santa Ana. Headed up by the Dream Centers own Chris Swaim and his nephew, none other than, Christian Hosoi! They brought the good news to all the fine folks in the neighborhood and the kids got stoked on Jesus and free gifts!
After the morning holiday celebrations, we packed out the City Lights Dream Center skate park with the locals and hosted best trick contest and gave out some goodies. Active Pro Mike V was on hand to sign some autographs and the Active Army crew was there to shred! Big thanks to all the Active Family who made this possible!

Mike Vallely’s band Revolution Mother came to Active Burbank and Active Irvine Spectrum and rocked the house last Wednesday and Thursday. Mike V and the band know how to put on a good show and the crowd of poeple who were there were going nuts over them. Element was in the house shooting photos and so was OrangeCounty.com. If you are in the So Cal area this Friday check out Revolution Mother at the Slide Bar in Fullerton (flyer below). Thanks so Revolution Mother, Mike V, Monster Energy, Element, Von Zipper, and everyone who helped make this event a success!

Revolution Mother will be playing new songs from their forth coming Ferret Music release: Rollin’ With Tha Mutha
Check out their myspace page to hear our new song Born To Rock N Roll.
Also, as if you have any other plans for the weekend, make sure you go see The Hangover in theaters tomorrow — REVOLUTION MOTHER has a song featured in the movie as well as a small cameo from Mike V. Let us know if you spot him!
Mike Vallely took some time out of his busy schedule to answer some of the questions that you wrote in and asked him. Check out the video to see if your question made the cut.
Mike V also decided that his favorite question in the video was Will W’s: “Mike, whatup? I dig most of the s**t you spit. I am definitely old school, but I try to stay in touch. How do you feel about the current arena for skating? And do you think it is possible for these kids to feel the same about skating as you do with all the dinero and corporate games (dew tour, Xgames, commercials) being thrown in their face?”
Congrats to Will on winning the Element package. We will be doing another one of these soon with another skateboarder so check back!
