It’s been 10 years since Brixton’s birth. It’s been 24 since mine… yep, I also celebrated my birthday that night, double rager!!! The rest of the night was a blur… Happy Birthday Brixton!
Glen E. Friedman, the man who has documented most of the iconic & classic photos that you might have reblogged on tumblr at this day & age. The era from the early rise of skateboarding, punk, & hip-hop culture. His book “My Rules” features many timeless photos from skateboarding legends ranging from, Tony Hawk to Duane Peters & as well as musical legends such as Minor Threat to Public Enemy. Here are some photos I took from meeting one of my favorite photographers at my favorite pizza place, Pizzanista!
No need for a long write up & introduction here. Ed Templeton‘s art speaks for itself (you can read more about the exhibition on Juxtapoz, if you want). After a long day of doing nothing, I decided to go out and see Ed’s art show (exhibit), “Synthetic Suburbia” at the Roberts & Tilton Gallery in Culver City/L.A., C.A. Here are 36 photos I took at the public opening reception on Saturday.
Vans held their world premier of their first video, “Propeller” a skate film by the master filmmaker, Greg Hunt (Mind Field, Sight Unseen, Videoradio, among other films). This highly anticipated video only took since 1966 to get together, and it’s about time! Here’s a photo gallery of flicks from the whole night at The Orpheum Theater.
It was the second-ever Eat Meet with The Hundreds, but first time for me… my friend Tyler Culbertson (social media for Tum Yeto and big fan of Bobby) invited me along to check it out and this year at The OiNKSTER. We cruised up there fashionably late after a long day and caught up with our friend Robert Brink who I just found out works for The Hundreds now too. We hung out with Bobby & Ben along with the rest of The Hundreds and ate our brains out. If you think The Hundreds is huge, check out my belly!…
Had a fun time in L.A. with CONS Project. CreateASkate‘s Chuck Hults‘ & The Hager bro’s Cody & Jared were there teaching kids how to size, shape, & make decks along with $LAVE Skateboard‘s Ben Horton & Converse Cons Lurkville‘s, Dolan Stearns on art design on decks. Here are a few photos from that day.
I met with Chad Tim Tim (Active’s new Team Captain) & one of my all time favorite photographer’s, Anthony Acosta, who’s shooting all the new ad photos. Daniel was with filmer, Roger Bagley, & fellow Cliché teammate, Lucas Puig. Here are some behind the scenes photos of what went on the day we went to go out and shoot Daniel Espinoza‘s latest ad that’s out now.
4/4: MAKING & DESIGNING SKATE DECKS WITH CREATEASKATE, BEN HORTON, DOLAN STEARNS, AND ACTIVE RIDE SHOP
Active team riders, Tre Williams, Jordan Hoffart, Chris Joslin, & Chase Webb take first this year on their way defending their title at the Adidas Skate Copa West Coast qualifiers. This year it was at the Westchester Skate Plaza. Stay tuned for the finals in September when they will be head-to-head with each regional shop in the finals!
There’s a first time for everything. This was my first experience at the Printed Matter LAABF that happened this past weekend at The Geffen. I remembered lots of things in full detail…
The Deadbeat Club group photo show “Mentally Retired” featuring works from the likes of Devin Briggs, Cheryl Dunn, Nolan Hall, Grant Hatfield, Andrea Sonnenberg, Deanna Templeton, Ed Templeton, Clint Woodside, Tobin Yelland at Slow Culture gallery in Highland Park. Photos from the opening night.
We joined in celebrating a new era of print excellence from The Skateboard Mag at BLACK. What an honor to be there surrounded by legends in skateboarding. This issue is a really special one considering a living legend is on the cover and that it’s the first issue released with The Berrics backing it. Congrats to Guy Mariano on the cover! Also congrats to The Skateboard Mag & Berrics. The new printed issue looks awesome!
The night before the opening day of TTC x CONS pop up shop. Stopped by to check out the space on 3rd & La Brea in L.A. after the enjoi premier that night. Active was the first retailer to release the collab shoes, so they invited us to come party with the crew & homies. Thanks Trash Talk & CONS!
