The STITCH: Exploring Seattle

A few weeks ago I took a trip up to Seattle, WA to visit one of my best friends, Cambria. It was my first time there, so she wanted to show me all that the city has to offer…which is a lot!

Cambria, our friend Trina, and I spent a lot of time shopping in the city! We stumbled upon a Crossroads Trading Co., which is a place where you can buy, sell & trade clothes, shoes, and accessories. They had a bunch of cute stuff!!

There are so many great places to eat in Seattle, and we ate at a lot of them during our trip.  My favorite was a vegan bistro in Capitol Hill called Plum. I had a delicious salad along with French pressed coffee…It was the best coffee I’ve ever tasted!

On one of our last days in Seattle, we ventured downtown to Pike Place Market . It is one of the oldest, continually operating farmers markets in the U.S.!  They have tons of cool knick-knacks, great food, beautiful jewelry, and many talented street performers. Cambria and I decided to play a few songs at one of the stations at the market. It was a lot of fun, and the people there were super friendly.

Cambria has an amazing view of the city. Her apartment building used to be a Wonder Bread Factory. They still have the original sign!

Overall it was a great trip with my best friends and I can’t wait to go back and visit again for round two of Seattle fun!

The STITCH: Trash for Cash!

I cleaned out my closet the other night and, by the end of it, I had a huge trash bag of unwanted clothes.  Instead of tossing them in the trash, I decided to head down to Buffalo Exchange in downtown Fullerton.  Buffalo Exchange is a consignment store that buys and sells used clothes, accessories and shoes.  So, your “trash” can simply become someone else’s “treasure.”  After class, I hauled my old clothes over there and hoped for a couple of bucks.  I ended up walking away with $66 dollars!  I found some cute feather clips and a vintage looking tee and now I’m off to go shop at Active with the rest of the moolah (scroll down to see the new Fall items I just picked up at Active!)!

Next time you’re thinking about throwing away some of your old clothes, think again!  Take a trip down to Buffalo Exchange – I promise it’ll be worth it.

The STITCH: Turquoise Treasures

the collection

My jewelry has become a part of my life, and a way I express myself everyday. My accessories have become collectables, and I now have a bundle of turquoise treasures. It is a hobby of mine to look for these jems, and find these diamonds in the rough. Everywhere I travel to I am on the hunt for everything from turquoise, to coral, to onyx, and above all antique silver. Flea markets, local antique shops, Morro Bay, and San Francisco are some of my favorite places to look. The thing I love about my jewelry is that it not only expresses my style, but is great to pair with my everyday clothing. Putting together tops and bottoms that I find in Active Ride Shop, from my favorite brands like: Insight, Matix Women, RVCA, and Obey add that extra flare that makes any girl feel unique and fun!! Hope this inspires you to create your own collection of keepsake pieces that will be with you for years to come.
