Recap: The WORKSHOP Event @ Irvine Spectrum

Thanks to everyone who made it out to the WORKSHOP Event last Saturday night at the Irvine Spectrum! And a big thank you to all of the brands involved as well; ObeyGIRL SkateboardsElement and Elemental Awareness.  This would not be possible without you and the causes your brands support.  Visit activerideshop.com/theworkshop for more information and to find out about future events!

The WORKSHOP is an ever-developping mobile art exhibit where your hands, your voice, and our actions come together to build the future we want.

We created the WORKSHOP to be a mouth piece for Active’s brands that give back to our world; brands like OBEYElementGIRL Skateboards and more. Our hope is that through the WORKSHOP we would encourage more people to buy products that serve a purpose… to broadcast tangible change with their voice, and more importantly, their actions.

The STITCH: Style Week OC with Active + TOMS

active-irvine

In honor of Style Week OC, our good friends at TOMS hosted a Style Your Sole event at our Irvine Spectrum store a few weeks ago. Their creative team brought out their best artists to decorate and style our shopper’s “souls.” There was a DJ on hand, a photo booth, not to mention TOMS cupcakes! The night was filled with fun, friends, and music!  A great way to spend a Friday night.  Check out some of the photos below.  More photos to come from the event, and our Photobooth!

3rd Annual GIVE Event with Krochet Kids + TOMS Shoes

Last Saturday, August 13th, Active partnered up with Krochet Kids and TOMS Shoes to host the 3rd annual GIVE Event at the Irvine Spectrum Center. TOMS brought out over 30 artists who were on hand to lend their artistic talent to customize TOMS shoes, while the Korchet Kids, in support of their ‘We are the Future of Change‘ campaign, had games like plinko, ring toss, goldfish, and more to raise awareness and collect change for the women and children in Uganda.   The music line-up was awesome with bands Levanter, Los Coyotes, The Alla-Las, Kiven, and the Pawnshop Kings, plus DJ Mike Robles.  Thanks to everyone who made it out to the event!  And to those of you who didn’t – we hope to see you next year!  Check out the video below for a look at this year’s GIVE Event.

A big thanks to Vestal and Keep A Breast for coming out as well!

Our friends at Sounds Like A Movement put together a Podcast of the event with interviews, music, and more. Check it out – here.

Milk & Cookies Kids Art show + TOMS Kids for Kids launch

milkandcookiesflyer6001

This past Saturday, March 12th, Active hosted the Milk & Cookies Kids Art Show at the Irvine Spectrum along with the TOMS shoes Kids for Kids Collection launch and Style Your Sole Event.

There definitely was not a lack of creativity present.  TOMS set up their DIY stations with everything from puffy paint, sequins, paint pens, feathers, glitter – you name it!  Kids and adults had a chance to add their artistic flare to blank TOMS shoes purchased at the event.  Musical guest Summer Watson got the day started with an acoustic set of her own songs, as well as some kid-friendly covers, and The Hindu Pirates took the stage later with their energetic get-up-and-dance performance.  Kid Creature, a native to Orange County, set up shop selling his amazing tees and lending his creative talent to some of the kids shoes.

All art featured in the show was created by kids and showcased their incredible creativity and imagination.  In addition, the show featured 10 collaborative pieces from world renowned artists and their kids: Gomez Bueno and daughter Costa, Ben Brough and daughter Lola, Jamie Lynn and niece Spencer Anderson, Sticky Shaw and nephew Shaw Sabori and niece Charlie Sabori, Mary Kingman and daughter Novella, Sophie St. Onge and daughter Sasha, and Torrey Cook and daughter Levi.  There were also three original pieces on display from professional snowboarder and artist Jeffrey Lin Anderson, on loan from his family.

The day was a huge success and a big ‘THANK YOU’ goes out to everyone involved!

Proceeds from the artwork sold at this show bennefited the JLA Project (www.iamjla.org) and SEEDS Arts and Education, Inc. (seedsed.org).

*More photos from the event, our Milk & Cookies Photo Booth, and a video will be up soon (Click on the photos below to view our flickr page).
