The STITCH: Spring Camping Essentials

One of my favorite springtime getaways is camping. Last weekend I spent a few days at Cachuma Lake in Santa Barbara. The weekend was filled with hikes, beautiful views, good food, and of course some essential camping outfits. My go-to attire for any weekend in a tent is comfortable sweatshirts, my favorite tees, and flannels. During the day a vintage tee, my chucks, and a comfortable pair of jeans was the way to go. And as the day went on and the sun set you could find me in camping boots, a cozy flannel, and the perfect sweatshirt. One of the highlights of our trip was breakfast!  We feasted on potatoes, eggs with turkey hot dogs, and O.J. So good! This was the first of many camping adventures for me this year!

Hurley has some great pieces this spring that are perfect for any camping wardrobe.

The STITCH: Active throws a party for the Ladies!

“Oh yes it’s LADIE’S night, and the feelings right!”

Last Saturday, Active Ride Shop threw an awesome party for the ladies.  All 21 stores hosted a special shopping night for our women’s customers, and at Chino we did it big this year!  It was a special night full of sugar, sparkling cider, discounts, and more! We danced the night away to a DJ, and handed out giveaways like hot-cakes. We even had talented artists come down and paint TOMS for the customers. And did I mention that all women’s clothing was 25% off?!  All in all, it was a successful night, full of fun and shopping!

Check our Flickr page for more photos from Ladies Night’s at all of our stores!

The 6th Annual Willabong Classic

What started out as a fun Active employee surf contest 6 years ago, has since spawned into an all out battle for supremacy between brands in the surfing capital of America, Huntington Beach.  This year’s Willabong teams featured Analog, Hurley, Dragon, Filtrate, Spy, Vestal, KK, Team BK and Chemistry, with companies bring out some serious fire power with the likes of Pat O, Todd Prestige, Josh Hoyer, Andrew Doheny, and Austin Ware to name drop a few.  Despite the winter like conditions, the sun finally peaked out and got nice for the finals between Chemistry Surfboards and Dragon optics.  Will Barraza of our Temecula store and Jenner Heller from Active corporate were on the opposing teams, in the end Will reigned supreme with Team Chemistry edging out Dragon by a half a point.  It was great to see everyone hanging out and having a good time, thanks to all who participated.
See you next year!

Irvine Youth Skate Jam

Active came out in force for the third annual Irvine Touth Skate Jam. The city of Irvine fires up all their media and invites the locals to bring their little out to learn some new tricks or just skateboard for the very first time. Alot of parent feel comfortable in this kind of atmostphere and Active is happy to help bridge the gap.

We brought out a ton of loyal riders and store employees to help motivate the kids. The Skatedogs captain Adam Cohen was in the house to teach the litlte little’s. Adam runs classes all throughout the southland through his program Skatedogs and in my opinion, there’s no one better with the kids.

The morning started with clinics and jams sessions. Alot of our good vendor friends we’re on hand to bless the public with free goodies. Vans, Protec, Jarritos, Sabre Vision, Comune, Emerica, Ambiguous, Krew, and Hurley came through big time! Sprouts provided the good sandwhiches!
Big thnaks to Brian and his crew form Irvine, our faithful Active Army heads and all the parents how brought their kids out! See you next year!
