While the most of us skate everyday, it’s celebrated every year at the beginning of the Summer solstice, June 21st! Coincidentally this year’s Go Skateboarding Day also landed on Father’s Day, it was more of a reason to celebrate with all the Rad Dads. There were many shredders out there who brought along there Rad Dads to the Active HQ. Thanks to all the brands for helping make this year possible at the Active Park. Most importantly, thanks to all the skateboarders like YOU for cruising out to support & celebrate skateboarding!

June 21st marked National Go Skateboarding Day, lots of sun and lots of fun. Active Ride Shop opened their new private park, The Active Park, to the public for one day only and Vans threw down a $500 best trick contest. SpeerCo tossed in a helpful heaping on $20 hammers to make things exciting! After many of failed shady attempts to sneek into the event, our boy Forest finally got in and managed to land a tre flip 50-50 on the big rail and a back 360 flip over the pyramid for the win! Skaters enjoyed the Red Bull Manny Mania street course, Vans free BBQ, tons of free drinks from Jarritos and Red Bull, fun vendor booths from Active Ride Shop, Ambiguous, Analog, Baker/Deathwish, JSLV, Crooks & Castles, Element, Heel Bruise, Huff, Jarritos, Kayo, LRG, Mighty Healthy, Rogue Status, Skatedogs, SpeerCo the ramp builders, Stussy, Supra, Krew, Syndrome Dist, Us Versus Them, Vans and XGames. The Active Park made possible by SpeerCo the ramp builders, Jarritos (the bombest Mexican soda around!) and Tec Color Craft (producers of amazing skate stickers since forever!).
Big thanks to the brands, the skaters and staff for making this amazing!! See ya next year!!

Emerica’s ‘Wild In The Streets’ Benefiting Boards For Bros.
Los Angeles, CA – Emerica’s Wild in the Streets supports the skaters in skateboarding’s epicenter for the first time! On June 21, 2011, the entire Emerica team will be joining the skaters in the streets of Los Angeles on Go Skateboarding Day in support of Boards For Bros, a group of skateboarders working together to collect and refurbish skateboards so they can be redistributed back into the community for youth who cannot afford or have no access to their own.
For the past three months, skateboarders all over the country have been donating their old skateboards, trucks and wheels to skate shops, and Emerica and Boards For Bros are refurbishing these skateboards to distribute them to youth in East Los Angeles on Go Skateboarding Day. More than 250 skateboards will be given to kids in the community, and during the event, skaters will be able to donate their old boards for future Boards For Bros efforts.
