Analog ATF Series

Each year snowboarding companies take it to the next level with new innovative designs and features that improve or enhance and make shreddin’ snow more enjoyable and fun. Analog Clothing has developed a new series called ATF (Analog Technical Fashion) with a goal of making casual street wear worthy for riding up on the mountain, I think that’s pretty kick ass if you ask me!

A nice piece collection where each piece has specific detailing and treated fabrics where style and technical features played a big role, with zippered pockets to keep your goods like an iPod, keys, wallet or phone safe and dry, with cotton fabrics that feature water resistant coatings and wicking properties that keep you dry and pull moisture away from your body. They basically incorporated their street wear styling and made them so you can shred snow in them. Plus new anti-bacterial fabrics that will help prevent that stink. No one likes a stinky snowboarder, so check out some of the new product at ActiveRideShop.com.

Go Skate Day at The Active Park Pics and Video

June 21st marked National Go Skateboarding Day, lots of sun and lots of fun. Active Ride Shop opened their new private park, The Active Park, to the public for one day only and Vans threw down a $500 best trick contest. SpeerCo tossed in a helpful heaping on $20 hammers to make things exciting! After many of failed shady attempts to sneek into the event, our boy Forest finally got in and managed to land a tre flip 50-50 on the big rail and a back 360 flip over the pyramid for the win! Skaters enjoyed the Red Bull Manny Mania street course, Vans free BBQ, tons of free drinks from Jarritos and Red Bull, fun vendor booths from Active Ride Shop, Ambiguous, Analog, Baker/Deathwish, JSLV, Crooks & Castles, Element, Heel Bruise, Huff, Jarritos, Kayo, LRG, Mighty Healthy, Rogue Status, Skatedogs, SpeerCo the ramp builders, Stussy, Supra, Krew, Syndrome Dist, Us Versus Them, Vans and XGames. The Active Park made possible by SpeerCo the ramp builders, Jarritos (the bombest Mexican soda around!) and Tec Color Craft (producers of amazing skate stickers since forever!).

Big thanks to the brands, the skaters and staff for making this amazing!! See ya next year!!

2011 Active Brodown Showdown Slideshow/Recap

The 2011 Active Brodown Showdown wrapped up this weekend in Mammoth Mountain. The course was in awesome shape with tons of options that gave our riders plenty to work with. Dylan Alito turned to event into his own party and walked away with first place by giving us amazing, different lines every run with tons of energy. Second went to Jared Dawoud and third to Brandon Davis. Erik Leon took best trick, which I can happily say, was a huge method to flat. Check out these pics from the event:

Analog & Gravis Industry Profile

Arto Saari gave us a little tour of the Analog and Gravis headquarters in Irvine last week and this is what I learned… They’re riders 100% support those company’s and those company’s 100% support and listen to their riders.  It’s quality versus quantity with those guys.  And with dudes like Arto Saari, Dylan Rieder and Stefan Janoski (to name a few) having a hand in the company’s direction… it’s no wonder they’re putting out such great products.

Who makes the best Denim??

“I don’t always wear pants… but when I do, I wear denim.” Ha!

There’s nothing like a good pair of jeans…(especially on the ladies!) But when I find a good pair of pants, I wear those things for weeks at a time. I’m stoked on Slash’s signature jean from Altamont right now…Those things have lasted a super long time…

But enough about me… what’s your favorite denim?

Dylan Rieder for Gravis

I have to say… I just watched the Dylan Rieder Gravis video and was absolutely amazed. The guy has so much style, has mega pop and skates everything… fast too. This video is a must see.

If you’re as bummed as I am that you’ll never have as much style as Dylan on a skateboard, not to worry. Gravis has made it possible to at least look like we do off one. Check out the Gravis Dylan Rieder collection below.

Make A Wish: Shylo

Last week we had the great pleasure of helping to make one boys wish come true.  Thanks to the amazing people at Make a Wish Foundation, 17 year old Shylo got his wish for a shopping spree – his first stop, Active Ride Shop at the Irvine Spectrum.  Pro Skateboarders Jordan Hoffart and Tony Tave, along with Pro Snowboarder Eddie Wall came to hang out with Shylo, and they didn’t show up empty handed – a signed deck by Tony, sunglasses and a signed dvd from Jordan, and Neff gear from Eddie (to name a few!).  Plus James from SE Bikes stopped by to surprise Shylo with a custom fix gear bike (another one of his wishes!).  It was awesome day hanging out with Shylo and helping to make his wish come true! Thanks to everyones support in making this possible.

The 6th Annual Willabong Classic

What started out as a fun Active employee surf contest 6 years ago, has since spawned into an all out battle for supremacy between brands in the surfing capital of America, Huntington Beach.  This year’s Willabong teams featured Analog, Hurley, Dragon, Filtrate, Spy, Vestal, KK, Team BK and Chemistry, with companies bring out some serious fire power with the likes of Pat O, Todd Prestige, Josh Hoyer, Andrew Doheny, and Austin Ware to name drop a few.  Despite the winter like conditions, the sun finally peaked out and got nice for the finals between Chemistry Surfboards and Dragon optics.  Will Barraza of our Temecula store and Jenner Heller from Active corporate were on the opposing teams, in the end Will reigned supreme with Team Chemistry edging out Dragon by a half a point.  It was great to see everyone hanging out and having a good time, thanks to all who participated.
See you next year!
