?S Footwear and Habitat rider, Raymond Molinar, was kind enough to answer a short questioner about his jail stay for Active…
Active: Word around the campfire recently is that you, Dyson and Jose had a brush with the law that landed you both in jail. When, how, and why did this happen?
Raymond: Yeah… it was about two weeks ago when Jose Rojo, Dyson Ramones and I were thrown in the slammer in Austin Texas for skateboarding on private property…we could have avoided the whole situation, but we just kept on skating.
Active: Why did they keep you in jail for so long for skateboarding?
Raymond: We would have gotten out sooner, but Dave Hoang lost his credit card and couldn’t get money out in time to bail us out. So we had to wait til the next day for Dave to get the money to bail us out.
Active: Why do you think you and Jose got thrown in the slammer, do you think it was just for skateboarding or were there other factors?
Raymond: There were some other factors for sure… the rookies didn’t wanna look like a bunch of softies, so two of the cops handcuffed all three of us, and put us in the cop car… I’ve never felt so stupid in my life.
Active: Tell the world about your stay in the Texan jail.
Raymond: Well the cells smelt like piss because of the other real criminals that would stay in there. The people inside were pretty cool, only because we were in there for skateboarding. When it was time to eat they would open your cell and throw a bag of food at you and say, “chow time!!” as if you were a dog or something.
Active: Do you have any advice for skaters that have run-ins with the law now that you are a man with a criminal record?
Raymond: Don?t be a hard ass and if the cop is pretty cool then try and talk to him and let him know your situation… especially if you?re from out of town.
