The STITCH: Style Week OC with Active + TOMS

active-irvine

In honor of Style Week OC, our good friends at TOMS hosted a Style Your Sole event at our Irvine Spectrum store a few weeks ago. Their creative team brought out their best artists to decorate and style our shopper’s “souls.” There was a DJ on hand, a photo booth, not to mention TOMS cupcakes! The night was filled with fun, friends, and music!  A great way to spend a Friday night.  Check out some of the photos below.  More photos to come from the event, and our Photobooth!

The STITCH: Billabong Ladies Shop Night

Last Thursday, the girls over at Billabong invited us to their annual shop night where we had the chance to preview their upcoming Fall/Winter collections, snack on tasty treats, and hang out with the rad women of Billabong.

billabong

These were some of my personal favorites, and can be seen in Billabong’s “Designers Closet” collection. Versatile party dresses, trendy coats, and of course a surf/skate feel that is true to Billabong’s roots, are very apparent in their collections for Fall and Holiday.

Here are some of my personal favorites from Billabong's "Designers Closet"

The STITCH: Summer Sunnies!

As spring comes to an end and we enter into summer (the greatest season of the year, if you ask me!), we start to focus on one of my personal favorite accessories; sunglasses. This year the sunnie trends are big and with music festivals and outdoor activities in full swing you can be sure that you will see a lot of these great spectacles. This season Active Ride Shop has all of your favorite sunnie trends with a selection from brands like Sabre, Ray Ban, Ashbury, Electric, and Spy, to name a few. Here are two styles that I’m totally loving this season:

The Cat-Eye
This lens is a great way to show your feminine side and is reminiscent of the 60’s when women sported these with pencil skirts and red lips. The SABRE Love Doll is the perfect pair if you’re looking for a good cat-eye.  Plus, it comes in black and tortoise, so you can have a pair to go with every outfit!

The Wayfarer
The wayfarer style is as classic as it get’s.  Ray Ban has offered this iconic frame since the 50’s and it hasn’t lost it’s appeal yet.  It the perfect style and looks great on everybody! Available in black gloss and tortoise – it doesn’t get much more classic than that!!  And, so many other brands are getting on the trend that you can find even more styles and colors from brands like SABRE, ACTIVE, Ashbury, and Oakley.

The STITCH: Ladies in Mammoth!

Last weekend the Active crew headed up to Mammoth Mountain for a little adventure. Although it’s technically a trip for the guys, this year the ladies decided we’d have a presence as well. It was an awesome 3 days full of laughing, snowboarding, great company, and the first annual Savage Games!

We all piled into a tour bus and made the treck up to the mountains.  About half way up back luck struck and our bus broke down! A few minor repairs and we were on our way.

We made it to Mammoth at about 8:00pm on Sunday night. Oakley set up a rad poker game at Lakanukie bar, a great spot in town. We then headed over to Hyde bar to watch The Fling, thanks to Ezekiel, jam the night away with great tunes!!

The next day was the Savage Games tournament (thanks to Matix and Beer Savage!) where we broke up into teams and battled it out in everything from beer bongs to eating pies as quick as we could.

The STITCH: Spring Camping Essentials

One of my favorite springtime getaways is camping. Last weekend I spent a few days at Cachuma Lake in Santa Barbara. The weekend was filled with hikes, beautiful views, good food, and of course some essential camping outfits. My go-to attire for any weekend in a tent is comfortable sweatshirts, my favorite tees, and flannels. During the day a vintage tee, my chucks, and a comfortable pair of jeans was the way to go. And as the day went on and the sun set you could find me in camping boots, a cozy flannel, and the perfect sweatshirt. One of the highlights of our trip was breakfast!  We feasted on potatoes, eggs with turkey hot dogs, and O.J. So good! This was the first of many camping adventures for me this year!

Hurley has some great pieces this spring that are perfect for any camping wardrobe.

The STITCH: Spring Trend – Cute Collars!

Everywhere I look I am seeing cute blouses with cute collars! This trend has definitely caught my eye, and I am so excited on all of the great pieces coming in to  Active!  There are styles that fit this trend perfectly, and I have found the best accessory to pair them with; necklaces! When wearing a top with a collar, try buttoning it up all the way and adding a short necklace to emphasize the detail. I have some great old vintage necklaces that I love to pair with these tops for a fashion forward style. Try adding in your own flare, and show your individual fashion style by mixing and matching any great short necklace with collared blouses.  Stop by Active and check out what we have in stock!

The STITCH: Spring Trend – Chiffon!

One spring trend we’ve got our eyes on this season is chiffon! Button down blouses made of a woven sheer fabric fabric in solids and prints are a must have for every girl’s closet. The thing I really love about chiffon is you can dress it down with a pair of jeans and some chucks, or dress it up with a long skirt and a pair of wedges.  It’s a great transitional piece that will take you from winter to spring.  We’ve got you covered with tons of chiffon at Active Ride Shop, so stop in to any of our stores today and check them out!  Here are some photos of my favorite pieces we have in store!!

The STITCH: Weekend Adventures + An Active Party

Last weekend the Active crew gathered in San Clemente, California to celebrate what a “helluva year” 2012 is going to be! A couple of friends and I used this party as an excuse to have our own little staycation, as we like to call it. We made the trip from Los Angeles to Orange County on Friday afternoon and were sure to make a pit stop in Costa Mesa at our favorite spot, Big Belly Deli, on the way. Nothing but laughs, great sandwiches, and tasty beers!

Next we made our way down to San Clemente, stopped at the hotel to put on our party dresses and dancing shoes, and then headed out to the party.  The night was filled with dancing, food, friends, and a great time. We definitely took advantage of the mustaches and top hats in the photo booth!

The next day was adventure number two.  On our way home we hit my most favorite antique shop in Long Beach, Antique Mall II.  It is one of the many antique spots in the area with everything from old record players, to 1950’s gas pumps, and of course lots and lots of jewelry – my favorite! My advice, next time your in Long Beach be sure to check this place out. There are some great finds, and lots of hidden treasures!
